Get Involved - Volunteer

Who we are:

The Learning Disabilities Association – Vancouver (LDAV) supports children and youth with diagnosed learning disabilities or delays in their development that are impacting their academic performance in school. Our focus is to provide programs that assist with skill development related to remedial reading, writing, math, and social functioning through individual tutoring or group training. Children from the ages of 4-15 years of age living in Metropolitan YVR area can access services to enhance their learning within our agency.

We provide strength based services with certified Orton Gillingham (OG) tutors, licensed Early Childhood Educators (ECE), and volunteers that are trained specifically to support children and youth with learning disabilities. Families can attend parent meetings with topics relevant to their child's needs and have an opportunity to explore the demands they experience while learning advocacy skills, build awareness of their child's disability, and receive consultation for planning.

LDAV is currently seeking enthusiastic volunteers for valuable positions throughout the Association. If you enjoy meeting new people, are personable, have good communication skills, and are interested in knowing more about learning disabilities, we have several volunteer opportunities below.

Volunteer Positions:

Administrative Assistant: We are looking for a volunteer for general administrative assistance to office staff in completion of various projects. Some duties involve information support for customers, data-entry, photo-copying, phone calls, filing and organization of library. The volunteer in conjunction with the Information and Support Coordinator may also be asked to take responsibility for small projects.

Homework Club Tutors: One-to-One assistance to help children or youth respond to the demands of school and have support to improve their functional academic skills.
